The Muralla Project beckoned Studio Madre to the quaint town of Pals in Baix Emporda, Catalunya, where a three-story village stone house awaited a touch of innovation and problem-solving. The client sought our expertise due to a myriad of issues with the contractor, necessitating a fresh team of builders capable of understanding and executing their vision beyond the confines of the architect’s plans.
This project was inherently focused on maximizing every inch of space within the confines of its modest 40m2 per floor. The client’s aspiration was to preserve the allure of the original stone dwelling while infusing it with modern-day comforts to suit their contemporary lifestyle. Working within the constraints of this charming yet slightly askew structure, precision was paramount in ensuring that all newly constructed elements seamlessly integrated with the existing design, resulting in a harmonious fusion of old and new.
Renovating an aged stone home inevitably presented unforeseen challenges, but our collaborative approach with the clients allowed us to not only resolve these issues but also enhance the design’s functionality and purpose throughout the project. Hand in hand, we navigated each obstacle, offering innovative solutions and leveraging these encounters to elevate the overall vision of the home.
